COVID-19 is hitting us all hard right now, especially in Washington. In a state with notoriously gloomy April weather, it’s been lovely to see a little sun, but that simply isn’t enough to brighten spirits in the face of mandatory self-isolation. Fortunately, we at Rob Rice Homes have brainstormed a few quarantine-friendly games and creative activities you can do at home to help you entertain yourself and your family while we wait for the pandemic to pass.

For those near our Steilacoom Ridge and Bradbury communities, in Lacey and Tumwater, respectively, the majority of fields, playgrounds and trails are closed, but this is a great opportunity to take a walk around your neighborhood. Enjoy the trees and flowers that are starting to bud and take in some of the rare sunshine we’ve been experiencing. While you’re out, you and your kids can have fun playing quarantine-friendly games like I Spy and Alphabet Hunt (take turns spotting things that begin with each letter of the alphabet, in order), or taking pictures of things you see on your walk.

Social distancing measures indicate that individuals who haven’t been in self-isolation together must be at least six feet apart, and masks and gloves are highly recommended by the CDC. Experts recommend visiting with neighbors and friends

If you’re feeling especially handy, entertain yourself in self-isolation by building raised beds for a vegetable garden. Here is a great tutorial from our neighbors at Lowe’s.
